Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person’s spine has a curvature alignment. The curve is usually “S” or “C” shaped over three dimensions. However, some of the degree of curve is stable, while in certain cases, it increases over time. Mild scoliosis does not typically cause problems, but more severe cases can affect the person’s movement, appearance, or even breathing issue.

The Bend Forward Test for self screening
- Examinee to take off shirt so that the spine is visible.
- Examinee to bend forward all the way down with keeping leg straight, the palms and feet close up together.
- Examiner stands at the back of the patient and looks along the horizontal plane of the spine, searching for abnormalities of the spinal curve.
- Any imbalances in the rib cage or other deformities along the back could be a sign of scoliosis.
